I love modern medicine! Just throwing that out there to start
As a general rule I try to avoid taking anything beyond my daily vitamins, but when you need it, wow do those new fangled medications come in handy! I was able to get a good night’s sleep and woke up feeling rested and much less achy.
Cycling through the Day
I sooo wish that title referred to Spin! But enough of my whining.. My entire day went something like this: eat, mess around on the computer, take a nap.. repeat, repeat, repeat. Beyond my disgusting sounding cough and being a little tired and medicine-headed, I have to say I really don’t feel all that bad. Which almost makes it worse, because it gives me the impression that I could travel, even though I know it’s just the medication doing it’s job and it would be a horrible thing to do to all the other people on the plane. So I will stay on the couch and continue drinking my tea for a couple more days.
FITNESS
So restless! ..
I don’t know about you, but my iPod is an essential component of my workout. I have multiple “workout” playlists I rotate between, and am fairly certain I couldn’t press start on the treadmill without something high energy to get my feet moving. It’s as if when the headphones go on, I morph into my own little workout world, oblivious to any other concerns or worries.
A recent British study examined the connection between music & exercise.. “Why music makes exercise easier” .. I don’t know about easier but it certainly helps me get through those last few sprints!
NUTRITION
I woke up hungry today, that’s gotta be a good sign right?! Nothing sounded better than a protein pancake, so I whipped up this pumpkin-oat beauty..
1.5 scoops Cake Batter Protein Powder
3 tbsp Egg Whites
1/4 c Oats
1/4 c Pumpkin
Pumpkin Spice
Cream of Tartar

Pumpkin Yogurt (3 oz O’Soy Vanilla Yogurt, 3 oz Pumpkin)
1/2 serving Maple Apples
2 tbsp Nature’s Path Pumpkin Flax Granola
1 tbsp SunButter
Later in the day I tried out Pimp My Protein Shake’s Pumpkin Eggnog Shake recipe. I didn’t have butter extract, but I did have Silk Nog. So for the liquid portion I used 1/4 c Silk Nog + 1/2 c UVAB. This turned out great and was delightfully rich & creamy.
New Favorite Product?
Nasoya wraps! Wow! .. I picked up the Wonton wraps a few weeks ago but hadn’t tried them yet. Today I used them for the first time, along with a recipe on their website for Baked Sweet Potato Spinach Ravioli. I’m not a huge pasta person, as there are many other sources I’d rather get my carbs from, so these soy wraps are the perfect alternative and they are SO versatile.

Holy Gigantic Protein Brownie Batman!
This test was far far overdue. I finally tried a recipe from Emily’s EZ Whey Cookbook. If you haven’t heard of it, this cookbook is dedicated entirely to protein powder, what could be better?! I bought the e-book version a while ago, but hadn’t had a chance to test out recipes (if you buy the electronic version through the website you can have it emailed to you same day!). Well tonight I tried the ‘EZ Protein Chocolate Brownies.’ I had to substitute sweet potato for pumpkin but it still turned out great. Check out how big this is (it’s in a small pie pan), and depending on your needs, it could be one serving..

So clearly all my baking escapades of the day demonstrate how fantastic I feel! By the end of the day I wasn’t even coughing much.. hmm.. we’ll see what tomorrow holds!
Wow 3 days till Christmas huh? I’m enjoying reading about everyone’s Christmas menu planning. I’m leaning towards making Ezekiel Protein French Toast, or Waffles of some sort.. breakfast is my favorite after all! Have a great Wednesday everyone!
Glad you are starting to feel better! How long does the incubation time last for a flu? I get completely crazy when I’m sick and not able to do much… I’m probably the worst patient ever!

I always thought you were most contagious before the symptoms showed up. The doctor said I’d be contagious until I stopped coughing, but I’m not really coughing anymore, sooo…
I think if you’re up and cooking and eating, you must be on the mend! You can also use the wraps and make ravioli by boiling them. Just make sure they’re sealed really well is the key. Only takes a minute or two to cook up. It’s always fun finding new things to cook with!

IPOD is so necessary for working out, I went to the gym thsi AM and couldnt find it in my bag, I was ready to go home, but then it was there!!!

Glad you’re feeling better, even if only medication induced. I don’t take meds much either, but had really painfully tight neck muscles and related headache for 3 days and finally caved in yesterday and took 2 muscle relaxants, I should probably have taken only one, because I was pretty phased out for the rest of the day. Went to the gym anyway. LOVE my iPod at the gym, can’t do cardio without it. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty about it though because it sort of induces a bit of an anti-social behavior (not that I’m there to socialize, but maybe come off as a snob), I zone out into my own world too. Some days I unplug for the weight training part at least.
Keep eating, typing, sleeping, repeating. Hope you can get away over the holidays later.
