Ready to Move!

If most days could be exactly like today I would be pretty happy :) Today went something like this: lift, yoga, fitness social media work, IIN coursework, spin, yoga, blogging and TV relaxing.. fantastic!

FITNESS

The Body Know What it Wants

After my ridiculously lazy day yesterday where I didn’t leave the house get out of my pajamas (but was still quite productive I would like to add :p), I guess my body was just ready to get moving today. I had planned my various workout times and set my alarm for 8am, but for whatever crazy reason I woke up and was ready to go before 6am! Over the summer and fall I got in the habit of getting up early for workouts since I was doing 2-a-days, but I am very much not a morning person by nature. So this event was quite a rarity. Any who .. I got in a nice pre-workout snack and headed to the gym to work Shoulders & Glutes.

Shoulders: Press, Military Press, Rear Delt Flyes, Lat Raises

Glutes: Sumo Squats, DB single leg Step Ups, wide leg Leg Press, Kickbacks, Adductors

I warmed down with for about 10 minutes on the Elliptical then headed to Power Yoga. This was a new class and teacher for me that I was excited to try. It was ok, but I think I prefer the Flow classes more. Tonight I made it back to the gym for my Spin class then an hour Flow Yoga class. I’m starting to feel myself improve with yoga. I’m feeling so much stronger with the poses and my breathing through the moves is also getting better. This weekend I’m doing a Partner Yoga Workshop which is going to be a lot of acro work and partner holds.. my favorite stuff, so I’m definitely looking forward to it!

I hadn’t specifically planned to do all of that, but it just sounded good.. and not going to lie.. felt great :)

NUTRITION

Since it dropped below 100 F, I’ve only wanted hot breakfasts, but doing I woke up and had a total craving for this:

1/2 c Cottage Cheese + 1/8 c Oats + 1/2 tbsp Chia Seeds. And it ended up being the perfect size and macro mix to fuel the workout.

But post-workout I fulfilled my Oatmeal quota with a new spin on an old favorite.. pretty darn healthy dessert inspired oats..

Mounds Bar Oats

1/2 c Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Breeze + 1/2 c H20

1/4 c Oats

2 tbsp Oat Bran

1 tbsp ground Flax Seed

1/2 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder

Topped With: 1/2 tbsp Shredded Unsweetened Coconut & 1 tbsp Coconut Butter

Later I tried my hand at another Kabocha Protein Pancake. Delicious and not burnt this time! Topped it with WF Maple Syrup and 2 tbsp TJ’s Omega Trail Mix.

Dinner was all about using up leftovers.. The creation was Baby Spinach topped with 1 c Spaghetti Squash, 3 oz Chicken Breast, 1/4 Avocado & 1/4 c Cottage Cheese. What a great combo this turned out to be!

And finally, to meet my protein goal, I closed out the night with this fantastic protein shake inspired by ‘The Grasshopper – Triple Protein Chocolate Mint Shake‘ at Pimp My Protein Shake.

There are 4 protein sources.. crazy deliciousness! It was: 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder +  1.5 oz Firm Tofu + 2 tbsp FF Cottage Cheese + 2 tbsp Egg Whites + a few drops Peppermint Extract + 1/2 tbsp Carob Powder + Xanthan Gum + ice. Nutrition Facts: 180 cal /33.5 g P / 3.7 g C / 3.5 g F .. love it!

INN Love

I’ve really thrown myself into the Fundamental/Warm-Up courses and material the last few days and I am absolutely loving it! There’s so much I want to share with you all, but I have about 11.8 months left so I guess there’s time :p

Then look what was waiting for me when I got home tonight..

I actually use to hate Mounds Bars and Coconut as a kid, along with Spinach and Squash. What are some of your favorite foods now that you use to avoid at all costs?

Those Mounds Bar Oats look awesome, I’m a huge coconut fan. Thanks for the tip.
I used to hate dill as a kid, just the smell of it would make me feel unwell. Now I absolutely adore tzatziki and I even cut fresh dill (love the smell now) as I like my home made one better than the supermarket versionas.

  2. Sounds like you’re really digging the yoga. My husband tried his hand at it as it was recommended for triathletes, and he really liked it too. I know I need to give it a shot, just can’t figure out where to squeeze it in! Ahhhh, spaghetti squash in a salad! Yum. Except for the chicken (vegetarian) and avocado (ick). I guess the one food for me I still avoid is the avocado. I know I should like it. It’s healthy. I just can’t take the texture.

That sounds like a totally amazing day to me! Though I’d probably be beyond exhausted at the end of it!
