Nourished Fitness

Hi everyone!

.. and.. my OpenSky shop is open for business!! So excited! Check it out at http://nourishedfitness.theopenskyproject.com :)

If you missed my post the other day, OpenSky is an online community and store where people passionate about specific topics can interact, learn and buy items specific to that topic. The ‘shopkeepers’ are all bloggers who, like me, love to share their experiences and opinions about their interests.

Right now I just have a handful of products, but they are all things I regularly rave about, don’t know what I’d do without, and are must haves for any fitness-minded, healthy living enthusiast. There are a couple fitness products, a bunch of my favorite kitchen tools, and a couple food items too. I wrote brief summaries on why I use/love each of the products, and every so often I’ll post specific recipes, cooking technique or helpful hints related to them. Though I must admit, everything that’s on the shop I already talk about all the time.. that’s what’s great about this site, it’s all about spreading the word on items I already go on & on & on about anyway, and now there’s an easy place to buy them. Love it!

I’ve had lots of questions on where I get many of my tools, foods, etc that I use for cooking healthy and staying fit. Well, we all know how picky I am with the products I like (ie, hours of research and very critical judging), so there are quite a few specific items I’m working on getting in the store in the near future. If you have any questions about how the shop works or any of the products there, please feel free to email me at nourishedfitness@gmail.com.

FITNESS

Twas a perfect workout day :) Met with my trainer for measurements & legs. Happy to reports all measurements were the same. Legs are my favorite to work and it’s always more fun with a trainer.. feeling the soreness setting in at this very moment. Later in the evening I did my favorite Spin to Flow Yoga combo, and it was as good as ever. She had a great music mix tonight which always helps, and the sequence we did in Flow was changed up too. I struggled a bit but I find I end up improving from these sort of days.

Two of my friends from school are coming with me to Yoga tomorrow after class. Should be fun.. I really hope they enjoy it as much as I do!

NUTRITION

I only have a few pictures today because I was running around and never find Tupperware pics to be too eye-pleasing. So here are a few highlights..

What can I say, I’m totally on a Greek Yogurt, Apple & Granola kick at the moment. Today’s mix was TJ’s Pomegranate Greek Yogurt topped with 1/4 c Chia Granola and 1/2 Warm Maple Apple

Pre-workout I enjoyed this protein & oat cookie concoction. It was 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder + 1/4 c Oats + 2 tbsp TJ’s Omega Trail Mix + 2 tbsp Silken Tofu + 1 tbsp UVAB.. mixed up and microwaved for 45 seconds. Not my best creation, but tasty enough and it did a fantastic job of holding me over until after Yoga.

Dinner was  most certainly the culinary highlight of my day. I picked up Swiss Chard the other day. I’ve never had it, but the fun colors won me over, so I figured I’d give it a try. I sautéed it with 1 tsp Olive Oil + 2 tsp minced Garlic, then mixed in 1/2 Portobello Mushroom, 4 oz Chicken Breast and a few pieces of dried Tomato. That was then topped with 1 tbsp Pinenuts and 2 oz Sweet Potato Cheetahs. The nature’s candy sweetness of the potato goes so well with the slightly bitter Chard taste. Loved this combo! .. Though if you look closely, you’ll notice the Chard turned the chicken pink :p

I was impressed, but pleased to find out that Swiss Chard actually has protein. There was ~5 g in this serving.

FUN

OpenSky of course! .. I’d love for you to check out my store, but there are some amazing bloggers to link to, along with super fun items in each store!
