The amazing Joanna at Fitness & Spice has been working like crazy to spread the word about the ‘Blog Your Heart Out Event’ today to raise awareness for the Go Red for Women Campaign against heart disease. She really is amazing, and goes above & beyond each day to spread the word on important causes. You’ve heard it before, but Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women. But the good news is, it doesn’t have to be that way, because heart health is significantly impacted by one’s nutrition and exercise habits (two of favorite topics). You can make changes to significantly reduce your risk. As a 25 yo who works out frequently and eats healthy, it’s easy for me to dismiss the risk, but the truth is we’re all at risk and there’s always things you can do to improve your health and encourage your loved ones. Whether it be asking your Grandma to go for a walk with you, or cooking up a fresh & healthy meal with a friend, every little bit helps, and who knows, you might get a healthy living convert out of it!
Currently the American Heart Association is running the BetterU Program- a 12 week health makeover to help each person make strides towards better heart health. They have a few tasty looking recipes too
And on that note, did you see Skinny In the Cities ‘Treat Your Ticker Right’ post? A great list of foods red foods that will help keep your heart going strong!
My favorite ‘red’ meal so far this year would have to be Muesli topped with Strawberries
The cranberries turned the milk pink!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I read a lot more about flaxseeds, and their health benefits, so I would say flax is superior. The good thing about Chia seeds is that there is no outer shell so it’s easier to get to the omega-3, but if you eat ground flaxseeds or just the flaxseed oil, it’s fine!
