Minor Failures

Oh Finals week.. I’m already starting with an excuse on why this is a short & sweet post… 89 days until graduation! Truth is, I don’t dislike school at all, it’s just that I’ve found other interests that I want to dedicate as much time as possible to (fitness training, Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Health Counseling, Yoga, Blogging, etc).

FITNESS

I had an awesome leg workout with my trainer today! I think I mentioned previously that I hurt my  back a couple weeks before Fitness America and it’s taken 3 months for it to start feeling better. So for all this time I haven’t been able to do heavy lifting for legs & back. Considering my least favorite weight-training is anything low-weight, high-rep, its been driving me crazy not to be able to push harder. So today was a lot of fun!

I tweeted that I was ‘lifting, spinning, flowing’.. well I had a bit of a ‘Fail’ in that I only accomplished one of those today. I was on my way to Spin and started panicking about the studying I need to get done in order to do sufficiently on my Finals. So I ended up turning towards home :/ I don’t know if that was the right choice, being that workouts always help me to feel better and be more productive, but I was able to get started studying earlier, so hopefully that means more rest and a clearer mind. After this week my schedule will be so much more relaxed.. can’t wait! (Especially to catch up on my Reader.. I miss you all!)

.. ok, thanks for listening to my rant/complaints.

Plan for tomorrow is hopefully to do a little hiking in the morning, then Yoga, and lift in the afternoon. I don’t have class, so there’s no excuse!

NUTRITION

So I was a total blogger failure (that’s #2 today, gah) when it came to taking pictures :/ I packed up everything but breakfast & dinner; I  snacked throughout the day during class & meeting so I didn’t get a chance to take pics. Here are a few..

Cinnamon Cupcake Oatmeal topped with Blackberries (1/2 c UVAB + 1/2 c H20 + 1/4 c Organic Oats + 2 tbsp Oat Bran + 1/2 scoop Cupcake Batter Protein Powder)..

Acorn Squash Slices with Savory Tofu..

Sweet Potato topped with PB Protein Yogurt (1/2 c plain Greek Yogurt + 1 scoop PB Protein Powder + 1 tbsp natural PB)..

Other unpictured snacks included Pumpkin Protein Yogurt (1/2 c Pumpkin + 1/4 c plain Greek Yogurt + 1 scoop BSN Cinnamon Roll Protein Powder), and 1/2 c Lactaid Cottage Cheese + 2 tbsp Pumpkin Hummus (still loving that combo!).

Chances are also very good that all be enjoying a Mae or HEAB “Ice Cream” treat tonight. I’m so addicted! :p

FUN

Recently I did an interview with Melissa from Womens Ab Workout. Check it out! “Breaking Through Barriers:)

Have you read Zen to Fitness? They have some awesome posts, definitely one of my favorite fitness inspiration sites. Today’s was 7 Ways to End the Day

Tosca is all over the place, but she is such a wonderful & inspiring advocate for Clean Eating! Here’s a recent article on 7 Tips to Make Your Workouts More Enjoyable

So I’m trying to come up with a logo for Nourished Fitness. Does anyone know a good graphic artist who isn’t too pricey who could help? Thanks in advance. Have a lovely Tuesday!

My husband happens to be a graphic artist. He owns a business here in Oregon. It is called Creative Media Group. Maybe we could work a trade? Let me know what you think? I could give you more info on him and his business if you like.

  2. I feel ya, it’s hard to get a good workout in when you know you have lots of cramming to do for school. I can’t get a good workout in without worrying about writing papers after, I’d rather just get it over with and then workout. Sometimes it’s the other way around, after the workout, euphoria/endorphins set in AND you want to do homework. Have a great week!

I can’t see your pictures but I’m sure your eats look wonderful!

Good luck with your Finals week. I’m sure you will rock!
BTW great interview with Melissa. Thanks for the link.

You sound like me! I sometimes start one thing and then remember something else that really needs to get done and stop and head and in another direction. I sometimes drive people crazy with that, but we have to prioritize! Good luck with finals! You are going to do great!

  5. I don’t think you should count them as failures. I think you probably did what you needed to do most – focus on the studying. Glad to hear you’re able to get back to heavy leg lifting. Yesterday for me was about 5 million reps and I’ve gotten to where I hate those workouts now too. I used to be the opposite and loved muscle endurance. Now it just feels like it drags on forever.

  6. would you like to learn more about integrative medicine? I think it’s pretty neat. If you do go to school for it eventually, or take some course on it, I’d love to read a post about it! I know what oyu mean about want to be done with school so you can get to all your other interests, that’s how I felt last year at OSU. I loved school, but was ready for the real world.

This cupcake batter protein powder sounds so tasty! And, pumpkin hummus?! I’ve got to get me some of that! haha. Actually I could probably make it, now that I have a Magic Bulltet. It sounds really good, I am addicted to pumpkin! In fact I’m eat it with my oats right now.

    Have a great day!

I gotta try a sweet pot with the PB…..it looks really good!

    Enjoy!

I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t been able to lift heavy.. I’m the same way- I like feeling super strong and doing low reps/high weights! I’m glad to hear that you were able to rock it today though!

And you just solved my sweet potato problem! Obviously I’m a big fan of sweet potatoes with peanut butter but I’ve been looking for a way to include protein with it. Sweet!!

  9. I will be back to read your links later as they look like must reads.. thx! I don’t lift too heavy anymore although it feels heavy based on the way I work out. I got really big when I was younger lifting heavy weights.. an easy gainer. :-) As I get older, I don’t get as big but I still do gain more than I want with heavy weights so I have to compromise with my own special made up workout.

Glad you are getting back to normal & love that food! Good luck with finals!

Good luck with your finals! And congrats on having a an awesome leg workout with your trainer. BTW, your new layout looks great! I love how clean it is! Never apologize for not being able to snap pics – we all know you are SUPER busy. It’s not worth it to stress yourself out about it. Just stay calm, healthy and happy! Take care and good luck!
