FITNESS
Perfection! Well almost
I made today my day off lifting, instead of Thursday, so I can get some studying in. But this morning seriously could not have been better. I started my day by hiking Camelback Mountain. I think it might have been the fastest time I’ve made it to the top, and the weather was absolutely perfect!

After that I head to an 80 min Flow Yoga class that was equally fantastic. My glutes & back are pretty sore (in a good way), and by the end of class I was sweating like crazy and shaking from the soreness, but it felt great! The morning’s activities left me in a wonderful, energetic mood! That’s something I certainly couldn’t say during finals week at any other time. It’s amazing what a good workout can do for your mood & energy level!
Tomorrow I’m hoping to get cardio done in the morning before class, then I’m lifting with my trainer after class.
NUTRITION
After getting a few good hours of studying in last night, I had the urge to mix up something tasty. I went with Averie’s Raw Vegan Chocolate Coconut Snowballs. I cut the recipe in half and substituted Walden Farms Calorie-Free Maple Syrup for the regular stuff. I’m guessing that totally takes the ‘raw’ and ‘vegan’ out of the mix :/ But nonetheless, so good!
And check out these nutrition facts.. (recipe made 14 servings)..
After posting I also snacked on what I’d like to call Protein Cheesecake Cottage Cheese, inspired by Mae! Basically I just mixed together 1/2 c Cottage Cheese, 1/2 scoop Cupcake Batter Protein Powder & 1 tbsp Nutritional Yeast. yummmm
Today!
I didn’t want to eat to much before hiking, but this ended up being just right. 1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt + 1/2 scoop Vanilla Chai Vega, topped with 1/4 cup Kashi Go Lean..
Looks ≠ Taste
I was sooo ready to eat after yoga and tried a new mix inspired by Janetha’s Greek Yogurt-topped Oats and April’s Smoothie-topped Oats. I made 1/3 c Organic Oats (1/3 c UVAB + 1/3 c H20 + Cinnamon + dash Stevia) and topped it with 1/3 c Cottage Cheese mixed with 1/2 scoop Peanut Butter Protein Powder & 1/2 tbsp natural Peanut Butter. This is as ugly as can be, but so good and definitely worth the ugly picture :p
Unpictured snacks include Acorn Squash slices with Pumpkin Hummus (last of it
need to make more asap!), and a Chocolate Chip Pure Protein Bar (snack in a pinch when I got hungry at a meeting).
How did it take so long?!
Clearly I currently have an obsession with Protein Greek Yogurt (greek yogurt + protein powder), so I don’t know how I made it this long without mixing my favorite Greek Yogurt (plain Oikos) with my favorite Protein Powder, Cupcake Batter! I have to admit, at least 75% of the time I like cake/brownie/fudge/you-name-it batter better than the baked good itself. Well let me tell you, the following tastes exactly like raw Cake Batter..
Fitness Cake Batter
6 oz plain Greek Yogurt
1 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder
dash Stevia
Mix it all up and pretend you’re a kid again.
I enjoyed this topped with a couple crumbled Raw Vegan Fudge Coconut Balls
Dinner Time
A bowl of tastiness! Kale sauteed in 1 tsp Olive Oil + minced garlic, then I mixed in Tempeh, Artichoke Hearts & baby Tomotoes. Just the healthy meal by body was wanting after a long day..
Dessert prediction: Heather’s Avocado (Protein) Ice Cream!
FUN
I added a couple new articles to the ‘Digg’ feed (at the bottom of the website page on the right). Also, I’d love to chat with you on Twitter! I’m @NourishedFit
OpenSky is having a bunch of fantastic Fashion Week Specials, check’em out!
What’s your favorite way to use Protein Powder? Mine was in pancakes, but mixed with Greek Yogurt has taken over :p
ahhh sounds so good. Your day is SO ACTIVE! and the weather looks perfect for such a hike. I’m almost done with my chocolate powder so hopefully I can get something as good like cake batter powder. mmm
Big fan of the protein powder in pancakes as well, but also love it in my oat bran.
Ya know…the ugliest meals are usually the best.
I agree with you that a great workout can energize us as well as control our stress levels. I think I could not survive school had I been inactive – I would go insane.
I like protein powder in quark cheese – quark is amazing, it has very low fat content, is high in protein and has no salt added. When mixed with protein it tastes like a mousse.
Mmm….cupcake batter
I get mine from this website cause it’s cheaper
Also they have 2 lbs jugs! You can’t ever have too many jugs! http://www.muscleandstrength.com/store/muscle-gauge-whey-protein-isolate.html
I love good workouts like that!
Oh so jealous of your weather!!! I can’t wait to get outside again. Your dinner sounds fantastic. YUM.
So glad all your workouts are rockin!!! It looks gorgeous! that cake batter protein powder sounds delish and they have cinnamon bun? How’s the pb flavor? I always like to add mine to a cup of nf milk or in a recovery smoothie
Ahh gosh I drool every time I come to your page!! THe other night I had cottage cheese wiith cake batter protein, cinnamon, a little stevia, and peanut butter. It tasted just like cake batter!! Mmmm!!

The sauteed kale looks delish!
Yummmmy post! Those little chocolate balls look great! I do a “cottage cheese cheesecake” too! I just do cottage cheese + stevia + either vanilla protein power OR sugar-free jello cheesecake pudding mix.
Every time I read your posts about yoga, it makes me REALLY want to get back into it. I need to make time to do it!
And I’m so jealous of your absolutely gorgeous, warm weather. You can have some of my snow if you’d like.
I randomly!!!! came to this page to check out the cake batter, and there, bam are my choco coconut snowballs..you made them and linked me, thank you!!!! I dont get pings from blogspot so I never have any clue. You’re so sweet, and the half batch and sugar free thing, work it girl. Whatever it takes to get your chocolate on
