Bottomless Pit, Flax, Winner

What up?! Thank you for all your congratulations!

So I am loving my new school schedule. Today was quite productive.. workouts, school work, work work, “quality” TV time. Tomorrow will be more of the same, but also includes PT and hopefully Yoga (it’s almost been a whole week :/).

FITNESS

Spin, Arms, Chest.. increasing weight, to failure.. Felt awesome :)

Cardio: Spin 45 min.

Weights: Arms & Chest

Biceps: BB Curls, Concentration Curls, Preacher Curls, Cable Bar Curls

Triceps: Close-grip Chest Press, DB Tricep Extensions, DB Kickbacks

Chest: Incline Chest Press, Pec Dec Flyes, Push-Ups, 1-arm Push-Ups

560 calories burned overall.

NUTRITION

It was totally a bottomless pit sort of day.. guess that means my metabolism doing it’s thing and loving the cardio!

I wasn’t hungry when I first got up, but knowing I was going from Spin to Weights, I though I better have a snack.

I went with 1/2 c Cottage Cheese mixed with 1/3 c Cake Batter Protein Powder topped with 1 tsp Ground Flaxseed and 1/8 c Galaxy Granola. I tried the Cranberry Orange flavor.. one word: yum!

Recently I talked about working to incorporate more Omega 3′s into my diet, and Flax Seed is an excellent way to do it. Flax contains 1.8g Omega-3s per tablespoon, and is also a great source of Fiber and Lignans (which have antioxidant quality). I’ve purchased ground Flax in the past, but the problem is that it goes bad crazy fast. As soon as the seeds are ground they start loosing their health benefits. So I started buying whole flax seeds, then grinding small portions in the Magic Bullet Blender, and storing whatever I don’t use in the freezer. Golden Flax Seeds are one of the new items in my OpenSky Shop!

Here are a couple fun videos from Mohr Results on Omega 3′s & Flax Seed

Post-workouts I was definitely ready to eat. I went with 1/2 c TJ’s Fat-Free Blueberry Muesli topped with Fitness Cake Batter (1 container Greek Yogurt + 1/2 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder)..

Next meal looked a lot like last nights dinner but with Kabocha.. 1.5 c Baby Spinach topped with BBQ Tempehtations, 85 g Kabocha and 1/2 c Cottage Cheese mixed with 1 tbsp Nutritional Yeast..

Before heading off to escape the distractions of my house, I enjoyed a couple tablespoons of Vanilla Almond Galaxy Granola, plain Greek Yogurt and a tbsp of natural PB..

At Coffee Bean I enjoyed a taster of their new Peach Ice Blended (sooo good! but definitely loaded with sugar) and a Berry Tea..

Dinner was more leftovers.. a piece of Kabocha Quinoa Casserole, TJ’s Savory Tofu and a few Grape Tomatoes..

What’s better than cookie dough for dessert?! I enjoyed PB Protein Cookie Dough (1 tbsp natural PB + 1 tbsp UVAB + 1 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder)..

Yeah, and there might be something else.. I’m still hungry! :p

  4. That salad looks great. I’ve been making one for lunch with spinach, red leaf lettuce, kabocha, and black beans. YUM. Keeps me full for hours.

I agree with you- BEST dessert idea ever! Sludge/cookie dough/brownie batter *whateve you choose to call it!
In response to your comment on my MadHectic Oatmeal find- I have NO clue where I saw it! How pathetic is that? I know I saw it online and somehow stumbled upon it- but HOW…no clue! Evidence that I need a vacation! lol. I used to use Xtend years back (I still have 2 huge containers 1/2 full!) but since have switched to Dymatize’s RECOUP (it has the Bvits added etc). Athletic Edge’s Intrabolic is crazy, and Aminocell by Nutribolics is good. I need to test out Allmax’s Aminocore soon. Allmax’s Leutor just may be the best BCAA supplement on the market (life changing and it’s been reviewed 2x by the Journal of Medicine and Sciences) and Fusion makes Agent M (time released BCAA’s).
Try AminoVital! GREAT line. Japanese company Anjimoto makes them and a lot of elite athletes use it.
Good luck and sorry this post is so freaking long! Like I said- I need a holiday!

  6. ohh thanks for the casserole link…YUM!

One armed push ups.. you rock! I don’t think I’ve gotten there yet.. but I’m getting close! I can do a few clapping ones, and the “one arm” ones on the medicine ball. But not real one armed ones yet!

I love protein cookie dough! Do you use a caesin one before bed?

I was having a bottomless pit day yesterday too. And I feel one coming on today! Oh the joy of muscles ;)

  8. Therese says:

I used to hate brussel sprouts and now I love them! I don’t know how you do all that lifting after spin. I am usually dead! It used to take all my energy just to make dinner!

  9. Simply Life says:

  10. Nicole, RD says:
