Super Seeds and Shopping

How was your Sunday? Hope it was lovely.

FITNESS

After lazing around the house for a while, I headed to the gym. It was leg day today, but I ended up taking it light. Both my back & hamstrings are pretty sore from Yoga yesterday, so I didn’t want to push it. My back’s been feeling great, and I was able to do positions in Yoga I’ve never done before, but boy was I feeling it today.

Quads & Glutes: Smith Squats, DB Step-ups, Wide-leg Leg Press, Leg Extensions

Hamstrings: Laying Single-Leg Curls, Seated Curls, SB Curls

NUTRITION

Breakfast/Pre-workout I went with 1/2 c Cottage Cheese + 1/4 c plain Greek Yogurt + 1/2 tbsp Chia Seeds + 1 tsp Bee Pollen, topped with fresh Strawberries..

Post-workout I had what ended up being a disappointing Protein Shake. It was 1/2 c frozen Peach Slices + 1 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder + Extra Firm Tofu  + 2/4 c UVAB + Xantham Gum + 1 tsp Bee Pollen, topped with 1 tbsp Goji Berries. I couldn’t tasted the peaches at all, but on the positive, I am loving Goji Berries!

I was in the mood for baking, and the recipe for Quinoa Granola sounded perfect. I got the recipe from Ashley at Edible Perspectives, but for some reason the link to her site isn’t working. I’ll post it as soon as it does. But the important part.. it turned out pretty darn good..

I had a couple of serving of this mess: 1/2 c Cottage Cheese + 1/2 scoop BSN Cinnamon Roll Protein Powder, topped with a bit of Quinoa Granola..

Dinner was a farm fresh salad: Baby Spinach, Arugula, Tempeh, Strawberries, Sunflower Seeds.. yum!

Dessert was a healthy new Super Food snack loaded with healthy fats..

Super Seed Cake

1/2 scoop Protein Powder (any would be good, I used Vanilla Chai Vega for this one)

1 tbsp Chia Seeds

1 tbsp Hemp Seeds

1 tbsp ground Flax Seed

2 tbsp UVAB

Mix everything together, then chill for a few hours.

And the stats: 180 cals, 11g F, 13g C, 12.5g P

FUN

I took a little shopping trip today to Target, Cost Plus World Market and Barnes & Noble.

Picked these up at target..

A couple new dishes at World Market (appearance by those tomorrow).

And..

‘Eat, Drink,  Be Vegan’ at B&N. No, I’m not planning on going Vegan, but I love so many of the recipes and veggie inspiration!

Make it a wonderful Monday!

Those strawbs look delicious! As does the quinoa granola. What a wonderful food day. Let us know how you like the book…

  2. Oh do fill me in on those coffees..those were on my next To – Buy list! Glad i inspired some archer farms action outta you, now i can get your field report taste tester verdict, selfishly this is good for me :)

ED & BV is a book based on your cooking style, not GF, not afraid to use soy, and not high raw or raw, you will enjoy it…a ton! Plus you make savory dishes. I like to make sweet food, and am the opposite of all that, therefore that is a book I reach for the least. For cooked vegan food though, as long as soy and gluten are ok for you, she’s the best game in town.

Can’t wait for Tues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much to talk about with you!!!!!!!!!!

this is just too ironic and funny. i only had 1/4 cup greek yog left today at work but i had a thing of CC that expires on thursday, so i mixed 1/2c CC and 1/4 c greek yog together to amp up the protein and volume (mind you, i DONT like sweet cottage cheese combos, not sure if you knew that) and then i mixed in some PB2 and smucker’s sugar free. i almost threw up. it is official, i CANNOT do sweet cottage cheese combos! anyway, that was a couple hours ago and then i just saw your photo and almost lost it. haha.. too funny.

    anyway, love you!

  11. LOVE strawberries in my spinach salad. YUM!

And I adore chia, hemp, and flax seeds. Delish! ;-)
