Yes.. I make up words (blog title :p)
Today was a lovely combination of workouts, IIN school work and MBA class (yes singular, and it was on a Sports Biz topic, so it was pretty interesting). So onto the details..
FITNESS
Got it done early today! I randomly woke up, alarm-less, before 6am. That is truly strange for me, haha.. so I took advantage and headed to the gym. Today was Arms & Chest day, which I’ve decided is surely my least favorite thing to work. It just doesn’t have the same variety & fun as say Shoulders or Legs/Glutes. I was glad to get backing on this one on Twitter. After that it was Boxing class. The last couple classes we’ve been incorporating sprints, which totally kick my butt, which is exactly what I need.
On tap for tomorrow: Shoulders & Glutes (woot woot) and Spin
NUTRITION
Dieting down = crazy amounts of time in the kitchen. Even if I prep on the weekends, I usually end up repeating the whole thing mid-week. Today I took the opportunity to mix up a batch of Plain & Simple Protein Pancakes..
And Diet Spinach Bars..
The Day
I started the day with 1/3 c Coach’s Steel Cut Oats with 1/2 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder..
Pre-boxing I snack on a mini-Protein Cake (1/2 scoop Protein Powder + 2 tbsp Egg Whites + pinch Cream of Tartar + Cinnamon) topped with Walden Farms 0-Cal Strawberry Jam..
Back home, boy was I ready to eat! I went with a Low-Carb Fruity Protein Green Monster..
That only held me over for 90 minutes or so, then I was onto Kelp Noodles mixed with Walden Farms Maple Syrup and 1 scoop Cake Batter Protein Powder..
Late afternoon I snacked on 1/2 c Mushrooms & 4 oz Chicken Breast..
And an unpictured Protein Pancake..
Dinner was Shirataki Noodles mixed with 4 oz Lean Turkey Breast..
Dessert was a new Agar Pudding Mix..
Tropical Lemon-Coconut Agar Pudding
1 c UVAB
2 tbsp Agar Flakes
1 scoop Cake Batter or Vanilla Protein Powder
2 tbsp Sugar-Free Lemon Syrup (I used Torani, or sub in regular Lemon Juice + Stevia)
1 tbsp Sugar-Free Coconut Syrup (or sub in Coconut Extract)
Heat UVAB & Agar Flakes stove-top until flakes are dissolved. Mix in Protein Powder & Syrups/Extracts.. yum
Love love this! Next time I’ll try it with the extracts to minimize my crazy fake sugar intake..
I ended up coming in slightly over on carbs today, around 55 g. From now on I’ll have to choose between Oats & Green Monsters, because if I have both in a day it’s hard to keep carbs low enough. I’d rather have one or the other and get more veggies later on in the day.
FUN
Have you seen the show ’9 by Design’ on Bravo? I just got the first episode the other day, and I love it.. what a bad ass power couple/family! But then again, I pretty much like everything on Bravo.. well except the hair style shows.. just not my thing I guess.
Mid-week, can you believe it! No complaints here.. 18 days to graduation!
wow, kelp noodles and protein/syrup. Never thought of that. I bet its good! Did the noodles take on all the sweet flavor? I’ll have to give it a shot for sure!
So many good eats! You make dieting fun, for real. Those pancakes look perfect. I always found that when dieting for a show I woke up earlier and without an alarm. Maybe from the lack o’ carbs?
Thanks for the reminder….I want to make another batch of your spinach bake. I can’t get enough of that stuff!
That pudding sounds great. I have agar flakes and just have yet to use them. I actually like working arms. Not so much chest, but love bi/tri work. Not sure why.
haha minimize the crazy fake sugar intake…yeahhh im working on that too! its just so damn good!!
yumm those diet spinach bars look SO good!! i want to make some!
i neeeed to make those spinach bars!! i agree tho- you make dieting look fun! if i was dieting, id eat like you!
I’m new to your blog- that spinach bar looks so good- insane that all it is is spinach and eggs- I love it!
Love the spinach bars… Must make them tonight!
I actually love waking up alarm-less! It makes it feel like it was actually my choice to get up lol other than being forced.
I really need to try those spinach bars!
Sadly I can never wake up that early alarm-less.
Your meals look really good, seriously! I will definitely give those spinach bars a go. I have been recently obsessed with spinach and they look like my ‘cup of tea’. Thanks!
Im definitely going to try out those pancakes and spinach bars! How many pancakes does that recipe make?

Depends.. I make one big pancake, but you could make a couple small ones too
Pancakes look YUMMY! 18 days! WOW!!!! AMAZING!
Those pancakes really do look perfect–like they should be in an ihop commercial!
Do you mind me asking what a leg/glute day looks like for you?
just a word of advice—-
you mentioned that you were held over for “90 minutes.” This is actually a standard time that your body almost always signals a second hunger pang, but it doesn’t mean you always need it! Try waiting 2 hours by distracting yourself for just a little bit and if you feel the same, then you really do need it. But most of the time it’s just a signal that is part of your body’s mental response to activating your metabolism from the first snack/meal 90 min. before.
Hope that helps during your cutting phase!!
Diana
Hey there. I found your blog today while googling “cake batter protein powder.”
There is a shortage of this stuff on the interwebs (and my 5lb tub is nearly empty! gasp!). Anyway, LOVE your blog. Will now be adding it to my reader. Thanks for the good reads and congrats on your win last year, your graduation and GL on the national stage. I’ll be cheering you on.
You have so many good looking eats I’ve never heard of!
Kelp noodles and spinach bars? I want lunch at your house!

Those protein pancakes look really amazing, I have yet to try them. Think I will do that this weekend when I make regular pancakes for my family. Usually they get pancakes and I have my usual oatmeal and egg white (sob), now I can join in the fun!
