2 Things & Giveaway Winner

You all are amazing! Thank you for putting up with my little vent yesterday, and for being so supportive and reassuring! And in fact, today was MUCH better!

FITNESS

Two things in particular helped make today fantastic!

#1: Cardio

I should stop saying what I’m going to do the next day, because then I just end up making a liar out of myself :p Actually, the thing is.. I’m moody, and switch it up depending on what I’m feeling like. But let me say, today’s cardio rocked!

30 min. SS Incline Treadmill – fasted, 1st thing in the AM to get that metabolism burning!)

30 min. SS resistance Spin – the title of the class was Aerobic Endurance.. which to me means ‘boring!’.. but it was what I needed so I went hard at a strong resistance for 30 min. keeping my heart rate medium but stable.. but that was enough of the boring stuff..

20 min. Sprint Interval(1 min at 5.8 jog, 30 sec at 9.0-10.0 sprint, increasing sprint rate my 0.2 every 2 sprints) – this was seriously the best interval session I have ever had! Must have been a combination of needing to just run-out some stress and all those good carbs from yesterday keeping me energized, but this felt great! I have to say, even a month ago, it was hard for me to imagine being back in good cardio shape again, but even after this 20 min. I was feeling pretty good :) yay, so happy!

5 min. walk to cool-down

#2: Yoga

Sunset-Poolside Yoga completely lived up to expectations! Today’s high in Phoenix was 113 F and at 9pm at night it is still 109 F.. so sufice to say, it was HOT yoga :) .. just how I like it! But seriously we moved through Flow sequences as the sun was setting behind Camelback Mountain was just amazing. So cool to be holding a pose and looking up at the clear blue sky. Just awesome.

NUTRITION

As foreshadowed by yesterday’s post.. breakfast was a Protein Waffle topped with Strawberry Tofu Pudding.. so happy with how this turned out. I love the 2 textures together..

Post-workout I went with my current favorite, a PB Protein Ice Cream Sundae + cat in background :)

And the award for ugliest meal of the day goes to.. Diet Spinach Bar with 4 oz roasted Chicken Breast and Walden Farms Onion Dip (one of my new faves by them)..

Pre-Yoga I snacked on a Protein Waffle, and dinner was a repeat of Tuesdays.. a Poached Egg on top of 1/2 Diet Spinach Bar with 4 oz Cod and Salsa..

Bad news, I broke the paddle on my Ice Cream Maker :( Fortunately Cuisinart makes it super easy, and pretty cheap, to order replacements.. so Protein Almond Milk Ice Cream will be back soon..

In the mean time.. I think dessert will be the blender version..

First, I did a yoga retreat w/ a yoga master at the Intercontinental Montelucia in January (indoors) and it was great. Love the property and grounds!

NExt, I have done outdoor rooftop sunset free yoga classes here in San Diego downtown at hotels sponsoered thru Lululemon and your last set of pics totally reminded me of that…except 30 degrees hotter for you!

Your Bloob muffins in the last post…that is so perfect. Vegan AND GF and EASY. Girl, I am all over those!

I do intervals fasted in the mornings. Lets just say my speeds aren't gung ho. I'm still pretty far out right now. It's hard to muster up energy for a sprint especially when it's dark and i'm afraid of falling ;) I do 1 min on/off. Usually 4.0/8.0. I'm going to try your workout this weekend after a food fest.

You are not a liar but I know what you mean. I hate not doing what I say too but you have to know we will always do something.

DANG! That's a lot of cardio. If I had that much cardio on my plate, I'd split it up, too.

  6. loving your eats! i am so doign that egg on top of the spinach and fish…what a great idea!! i have HUGE bag of millet as well and need to use it somehow, on top of that protein ice cream is going to be SO delicious with my new ice cream sandwich protein powder!! (thanks for your help again, Alyson!!)

  7. I do a lot of cardio too & my weights & I am not even competeing or trying.. well, I am trying to stay fit the older I get! :-)

I left a question about the coconut protein cookie the other day.. and I know you are swamped but curious if I should let it cool….. it has a spongey texture & maybe that is the way it is supposed to be. I did like the batter though! :-)

Sorry for not replying yet! Sometimes I read comments on my phone and forget to go back later to answer.. I microwave the cookie for 40s and it end up the perfect texture of soft & chewy. I bet it varies a lot depending on the type & brand of protein powder though.

  8. omg I love your kitty! i here by request more kitty pictures…though hmm I never post any of mine, bizarre
