Back 2 Kickboxing & Pineapple Grillin

Edit: I wrote this last night, but internet went down right before posting..

Hi all! Wow my schedule and internal clock is way off.. I went from getting up before 7am, working out twice a day and eating 7 times a day, to not getting up until 9am, eating my first meal at 3pm, and going to bed after 2am.. not really worse.. just wayyy different.

FITNESS

I finally made it to back to Kickboxing today and it was wonderful!

I didn’t actually go to the gym at all last week. I got in a few cardio and outdoor conditioning workouts (I mix in squats, lunges, step-ups and handstand push-ups), but nothing crazy. Even when I take just a few days off, I usually notice it, and feel pretty gross the first workout back, but today was great. I did a little Shoulders & Back beforehand as well.

To be honest, I don’t have a specific workout plan I’m following at the moment. I usually plan out my cardio and strength training workouts a week in advance, but with all the craziness of the last week I just haven’t had a chance to plan it out, so I’ve just been going with what I’m in the mood for.

NUTRITION

I just wasn’t hungry before work today (probably had a little something to do with the excessive amounts of granola I ate while be angry at my computer yesterday), so I ended up not eating my first meal until 3-ish. I brought home the Tuscan Chicken Salad from Nourish..

Last weekend I was flipping through an old Cooking Light and stumbled across a recipe for Pan-Grilled Pork Chops with Grilled Pineapple Salsa.. sounded good to me! So for dinner tonight I made a copycat Chicken version with a side of Spaghetti Squash..

I really liked this Salsa and wouldn’t have thought to pair Onions & Pineapple.. but yum!

Kabocha Sundae

It was just a matter of time before these two favorites came together.

I stopped by a local farmer’s market on Saturday and they had 2 lonely Kabochas. The woman working the booth seemed surprised that I knew what it was. The last couple Kabochas I got at the grocery store weren’t good at all. They had no flavor and the texture was just off. This one however was perfect and so delicious!

So for dessert tonight I made up Peanut Butter Protein Almond Milk Ice Cream and served it on top of cooked Kabocha..

Do you plan out your workouts in advance or just go with the flow?

Kabocha, Pumpkin & Spiced Apples mean fall’s coming to me! .. What fall flavors are you looking forward to?

I plan on working out everyday that way if something goes wrong (and it does) the next day is a workout day.I end up from 5 to 6 days a week.Just completed 600 miles on the tread mill at 4 mph and 10% incline since Jan 1.Last year I did 450 and this year I am going for 900.I follow 40 minutes on the tread with 30 minutes weights.

omg i need to go to this restaurant!! everything always looks so good and i love the colorfulness of it!

I LOVE kickboxing! such a good cardio workout, thats why I loved turbo fire when I got it and I am so keeping those DVDs so i can always throw one in and get in a great workout! these days I am turning to boring old machines, but one day I will get back to the kickboxing!

    xoxoxo

  3. I plan my weights but wing the cardio. I go with what I feel up to for the day rather than forcing myself to do something I don't want to do. I haven't seen kabocha in months and am seriously missing it. For me fall flavors are squashes like butternut or pumpkin – does chili count as a flavor?

  4. I can’t wait for pumpkin!

Right now I have 4 more weeks of p90x so that’s pretty planned out. I like to have a good idea of my workouts at the beginning of the week though.

  5. Man that food looks awesome!!!! I usually plan ahead what I want to do before each workout, not a week in advance.. BUT depending on how I feel, how the moves feel & what else is going on, it may change…..

Sorry to hear about the internet crash, how annoying. I plan my workouts for 4-6 week periods and then change everything around after that. Of course I always like to try new things for weight training, and cardio…well what ever keeps me interested at the time and makes it fun. Fall flavours….pumpkin, any squash esp. butternut (butternut soup…mmmm).
