What up buttercups?
For some reason that greeting’s been going through my head all weekend..
It has been one crazy week.. but lots of good stuff.
On the Fitness front, I’m still very much getting back into the fitness groove and my daily crazy soreness reminds me of it! But you know I love it. And as far as motivation goes, I couldn’t ask for much more, because I’ve been watching the Fitness America webcast all weekend.. Yes, I could have gone out like a “normal” 26 year old would on a Friday night, but instead I happily curled up in front my computer with a bowl full of Arctic Zero (a scoop of Coffee + a scoop of Vanilla Maple + a dash of Sugar-Free Creamer + WF Chocolate Syrup = tasty heaven in fake sugar form) and watched the Fitness competition until after 1am (darn time zones). I felt like the level of competition this year was fantastic; stronger than last year and Fitness Universe. We’ll see.. would love to be out there next year ![]()
Current Food Obsessions
I haven’t been particularly creative as of late, but there are a few things I am borderline obsessed with (defining obsession as being eaten daily with no desire to stop that streak in sight)
#1: Green Monsters: Or Green Smoothies, whatever you like to call them. 1 scoop of Vega (either Vanilla Sport or Chocolate) + 1 scoop Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze + blender full of Spinach + 1/4 tsp Xantham Gum + lotsa Ice + either Chocolate Amazing Grass, Berries or perhaps PB Capella Drops. Top all that with 1/4 cup Oats (either raw or toasted). Love that this breakfast gives me Veggies, Protein, Fruit and starchy Carbs first thing, and it’s nice and filling.
#2: Kabocha topped with Nut Butter, Plain Goat’s Milk Yogurt and perhaps Apples. Just a great fall flavor combo!
#3: Spinach Bar topped with 1/4 c organic Pasta Sauce and Pink Salmon. This has been a lunch staple lately. Sometimes I’ll also add 1/4 c Brown Rice or a slice of Ezekiel Bread for good starchy Carbs.
#4: Joanna’s Pumpkin Bars. These are fantastic, as simple as that! Try them as a quick to-go snack, or reheated topped with Nut Butter and Yogurt for a warm & cozy breakfast!
Just Life
My sporatic blog posting is the result of my days being taken up with working, working out and job searching. I had a couple interviews last week that went really well (please cross your fingers for me), and am starting a new internship, that I’m pretty excited about, tomorrow.
Due to a number of different factors, I’m not going home to Seattle for any of the holidays this year. I’ve been feeling pretty bummed about it, but I’ll get myself into the right mood soon. And speaking of, I love this post from Jenna of Eat, Live, Run. The quote “how you do anything is how you do everything,” really struck home as well. Have you ever experienced that when one thing starts going right and you’re feeling really positive in one area of your life, that other areas fall into place too? Or visa-versa, that when one bad thing happens, and you’re feeling negative, that every little thing tends to go wrong? I totally believe in the law of attraction and notice this very strongly in my life. So why waste energy being negative about anything?! .. It all happens for a reason and there’s always a lesson to be learned.
How was your weekend? What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
kabocha and greek yogurt, nice! I really like what jenna said, i think its all about your perspective. Hope u have a wonderful Sunday! when are we going to get together? We need to do coffee soon!
Good luck with your job interviews! Hope something sticks! And I love the quote and completely agree with it!
I hope you hear good news from those interviews … good luck!!! I'm sure the perfect job will come along for you! : )
I love how you topped those protein pumpkin bars! You're so clever!
Did you go to the Christmas festivities outside your door on Saturday? I was there running some errands and I had no idea they did it the weekend before Thanksgiving!
I know how you feel! It's definitely been a negative landslide for me lately. Sorry about not being able to go home! That is really unfortunate, but I'm sure you'll have a nice holiday nevertheless! I've had a major obsession with Smart Pop 100cal popcorn bags and the Jolly Time bags! As in I ate 4 in one day! I am craving sodium like crazy! I will not be surprised if I literally poof up to Veruska Salt (willy wonka) size by the end of the week!!!
