Accountability

Hi! How was your weekend? I must admit, I was completely lazy, and spent most of the weekend curled up reading and watching Holiday movies. But I suppose those are good every so often right?!

FITNESS

Workout Tracking

I’ve talked a little about my ups & downs with staying consistent with my workouts. I am so thankful for the CSF team and my coach for being supportive. But I think more than anything I just need to make myself accountable, no excuses:!:

So I decided to do a couple things.. I want to use this space (you are all so motivating) more consistently, and as part of that I’ve added a ‘Workout Tracking‘ section under the ‘Fitness’ tab above where I’ll enter my workouts after I do them. If you click on the event in the day it’ll open with a little more information. I’m not going to provide my specific strength training workouts because I’m training under CSF. In the past when I made up my own (which I still do a lot with cardio), it was one thing, but I think it would be disrespectful to the trainers I’m working with to post my plan detail by detail. Now, that isn’t based on the fact that I’m spending money and feel some sort of ownership, but instead because I’m working with a great organization that is running a business, and I want to be supportive of that! Hope you understand

NUTRITION

A Couple Current Favorites

I am on a ridiculous smoothie kick!

For the last month I think I’ve had a Green Monster with Oats for breakfast every single day. My current favorite is holiday-themed..

Al’s Peppermint Mocha Green Monster

1 scoop Chocolate Vega

1 scoop Chocolate Amazing Grass

1/4 tsp Xantham Gum

2 tbsp Sugar-Free Peppermint Syrup (I used Torani) OR a few drops of Peppermint Extract

1 tbsp Cocoa Powder (optional, if you want it even more chocolatey)

lots of Ice

Blend Blend Blend. Then add some good healthy carbs by topping with 1/4 c raw Oats.. Yum!

Veggie <3

I think I mentioned these before but I stumbled across them again recently and have re-fallen in love!

They have such fantastic flavor! They’re wonderful straight for the bag, or jazz them up with a little Hummus and Guacamole (love those 100 calorie packs), oh and Chicken Sausage..

Still loving Goat’s Milk Yogurt. Here with 1/2 Apple, Cinnamon and a drizzle of calorie-free Maple Syrup..

Accidental Breakfast Bars

I was in the mood for baking last night, and after stumbling across Allie’s Vegan Pumpkin Pecan Blondies, I decided to make a few adjustments, and what resulted was a not-too-sweet and healthy breakfast-like bar!

I made the following adjustments to Allie’s recipe..

Whole Wheat Almond Breakfast Bars

  • 3/4 cup canned pumpkin
  • Instead of 1/2 cup canola oil .. I use 1/4 cup oil
  • Instead of 1/2 cup sugar .. I used a few drops of Stevia
  • Instead of 1/2 cup dark brown sugar .. I used 1/2 cup Walden Farms, 0-cal, Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (I used unsweetened Vanilla)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups flour (I used Whole Wheat)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup toasted chopped pecans (I used Almonds)

Other than that I followed Allie’s recipe and they turned out great!

How is holiday planning, shopping, prepping going? I can’t believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, and in 3 weeks will be doing it 2011 style.. wowza! Almost time for all those reflective posts ;-)

  6. you ROCK girl!! I so hope to meet you so so soon!!!! and you better compete in April at Mohegan so we can do it together!!!! aren’t the workouts awesome from CSF? As the months go on you will start to collect such a wealth of workouts and info so you can always havesomething to do. If I don’t know exactly what I want, I just grab a sheet and BOOM its awesome! even being a personal trainer, I love to have someone write out a plan for me!

    those bars look awesome!!!

It’s funny how accountability goes hand-in-hand with putting additional performance pressure on ourselves. On one hand it’s awesome to be accountable to make sure we are getting all of our workouts in and eating as well as possible and admit when we make a mistake, but on the other hand, it does put added pressure on us already OCD, Type-A type of people. Sometimes I just want to have an off day from always being “on.” :)

  8. Those breakfast bars look great. Need to give those a try.
