Hi all! Gosh, and I was doing so well with posting on a regular basis.. whoops ![]()
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Mine was incredibly uneventful.. unless you count watching a steady stream of Netflix, eventful.. then in that case it was a crazy weekend! At the moment I’m watching Friday Night Lights, the TV show version. And wow, it really makes me realize how thankful I am to have gone to a city school, and also what an angel I was in high school! haha.. I didn’t drink, I didn’t date, I didn’t party, I didn’t sleep around or disappear and run away with my boyfriend to Dallas who then ended up hitting me.. wow
Speaking of ‘wow,’ I totally have a TV crush on Tim Riggins.. hehe. guess there is something to that whole ‘girls liking bad guys thing’
But besides catching up on TV series I missed over the last 5 years (yes I’ve watched all of L World, Dexter and Weeds), I’ve also fallen into that old stereotypical reflection process that tends to happen this time of year.
A Year of Lessons
This has, without a doubt, been the craziest year of my quarter-century, plus one, years of living. Up until 2010, I’d been fairly predictable.. school & gymnastics, college, first real job, grad school.. then this year, and boom: fitness-competition rebound, MBA, start a company, health coach certification, have my first own apartment, move to Texas, job search like a mofo. CRAZY!
And not going to sugarcoat it.. it’s been the hardest, most challenging year I’ve ever had.. but that also means it’s given me the most life-lesson experiences, and the opportunity to grow-up (like it or not) and as cheesy as it sounds, learn a lot about myself.
But with that said, I AM SO INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE, AND SO THANKFUL. The phrase that best describes it, is one I learned from yoga.. humble gratitude.
Actually that reminds me. I saw this other quote today on another blog, and it defines this year pretty well, though not sure that a good thing
..
“’Why not?’ is a slogan for an interesting life.”
And ain’t that the truth?!
Honestly, if I could do this year over, there are a lot of things I would do different. I suppose that isn’t the sexy analysis, but it is the truth. But yet, even though there are certainly decisions I would make differently, I don’t regret any of those choices either. Does that make sense? Because I’ve thought about it a lot, and I think you can have it both ways. And here’s another quote which partially explains why..
“When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it; admit it, learn form it, and do not repeat it.”
I won’t make the same mistakes again. This has been a learning year, and I would only have regrets if I took it for granted and didn’t choose to learn from each and every experience.
2011 is going to be an AMAZING YEAR!!
Oh and in standard news: Both workouts and nutrition this week has been great! Even when I’m not posting I’ve been updating my Workout Tracker to keep me accountable.
How has 2010 stacked up for you?
And any crazy New Year’s Eve plans?
I dont know anyone who has said 2010 was easy street. you entered the job/working world in one of, if not the hardest year, in recent memory since the great depression…so of course, it wasnt easy. For anyone! So don’t feel alone
Love that you are grateful, i am too, for all i DO have. But yeah, here’s to 2011! i just posted my 2011 intentions too.

Thanks Averie! I read your Intentions post and loved it! I think I do prefer ‘intentions’ to ‘resolutions’ too!
I like that slogan. And this year has been a roller coaster. Like you said, but in a good way! Mistakes have been made but in the end have made us stronger. I am sure glad you moved here though!

I love Friday night lights! And I love looking at all of the local Austin area places they go.
Their football “stadium” is actually right off the Lake Lady Bird trail at Longhorn Dam (I recognized the graffiti, lol).
I wish I would have been able to attend a taping before it wrapped!
Well we all learn things as we go through life! And one of the best things for me about 2010 was being introduced to the blogging world by YOU !
Thank you!
HECK YES 2011 bring it on! it will be the year that I meet you
