YTT Level 1 & Sweating Pink

Teacher Training

Hello! It’s been a pretty fantastic last couple weeks. Last Saturday I finished level 1 of yoga teacher training. The 200hr program I’m doing is an intensive, so we were in the studio 8am-6pm from Saturday to Saturday. I suppose I’ll never underestimate how much you can learn in that short of a period of time! It’hard to put into words how incredible the week was. There are 11 people in the program and each of them is amazing. I feel so blessed to be going through training with this group..

One of the things I absolutely love about this program in particular is that it takes a very integrated approach. Although it is technically a program focused on the vinyasa style, our teachers come from backgrounds in Ashtanga, Anusara, Baptiste, etc. I love hearing the variety of perspectives, because there is so much wisdom and experience, but yet no one “right” way.

It’s so interesting moving from the perspective of a student to that of a teacher AND student. While in workshops for standing sequencing, sun salutations, backbends and inversions, I kept catching myself thinking about how to apply it to me.. then realizing that while that is important so that I can better describe it, that it’s really about how to pass on the information and not just absorb it. And little by little even my sanskrit is getting better  :-P

We have one more 8-day intensive in July, and in the meantime I’m teaching, observing and taking as many classes as possible. And on that note, if you live in the Austin-area and want to join us for Yoga in the Park, shoot me a message!
